Introducing the first of ten outfits from my winter capsule wardrobe! If you missed yesterday’s post, I have created a capsule wardrobe, in which I have 10 clothing items that I will be mixing and matching to create 10 outfits for the next 10 days. I will be posting each outfit on this blog everyday so that you can see what I come up with. So, let’s discuss outfit number 1:
I adore this outfit! From the complementing colours to the comfortable fit, everything about this outfit exudes casual sophistication. The contrast between the conservative buttoned up chest area and the high slit presents a subtle edge, and the tie allows for a beautiful gathering at the waist which, hell, every woman can appreciate, especially when a certain woman eats too many Ouma rusks with her tea. (cough cough)
The weather is nothing out of the usual for Joburg; warm in the sun and cold in the shade. It was slightly windier than usual today, so the stiff nature of the dress fortunately inhibited any surprise flashes. I ran errands for most of the morning with Dan, including some farmer’s market veggie shopping, so it was a pleasure showing off this outfit for a bit!
ITEM #1 | THE COAT
Each day I’d like to focus on one of the 10 items of clothing that I will be wearing throughout this experiment. I have featured this incredible coat once before on this blog, and I’m so obsessed with it that I simply had to include it in this capsule series just to have an excuse to wear it every day! You know that feeling when you acquire something new and you begin to wear it so much that you can’t remember what you wore before you had it? This coat is the very description of that. Made from a wool blend, this is a girl’s best friend in winter as it’s super insulative – that means it keeps you warm when it’s cold and not too warm when it’s hot. This coat forms part of local sustainable and ethical brand, Sitting Pretty‘s Autumn/Winter range. Read more about them here, and shop the coat below.

And this concludes the first outfit from my Winter Capsule Wardrobe series. See you tomorrow for outfit number 2!
