If Jane Sews and edgy style had a love child, it would look something like this…
I first saw Jane Sews clothing during their pop up store at Colombo Coffee and Tea four years ago. An array of earthy tones and pale colours filled the space, and models with flowers in their hair floated around the room in their beautifully crafted garments. Jane Sews is a Durban-based artisan clothing, footwear and leather accessory brand started by Amy Venter. Amy and her team have dedicated themselves to creating timeless pieces using natural fabrics of the highest quality, producing limited quantities manufactured by local hands. It is clear she stays true to her vision of authenticity, as this dress as well as her brand has remained original and unique, something that resonates strongly with me and my style.
This dress is roughly four years old but has never gone out of fashion. It’s one of those dresses that doesn’t need much else; the light material makes it perfect for our hot summer days – where you’d rather be naked but one item of clothing will do – but if you like to layer, it’s minimal look makes it versatile and can be paired with just about any jacket or jersey.
I chose to wear bulky boots with a thick heel that took the look to the edgy side. It’s amazing how effective a pair of shoes can be in completing an outfit. This is my favourite look so far and I hope you all like it!
